Meet our teachers
Our teachers are experienced and
qualified with extensive
backgrounds in Early Childhood
Education. They have certificates
in both CPR and first aid, and
have had security clearance
checks.
My name is Erin
Speer (Ms. Erin) and this is my
first year at HHBH Playschool. I
am very excited to be joining a
preschool with the history HHBH
has and one that is so wonderfully
supported and engaged by the
families whose children
attend. I believe that a
positive, close and collaborative
relationship with families,
co-workers and other related
programs are an essential part of
a supportive preschool
environment. I look forward to
working closely with Ms. Marie and
to be a part of your child’s
educational journey. In the spring
of 2009 I completed my Early
Learning and Child Care diploma at
Mount Royal College. Throughout my
education I maintained a 4.0 grade
point average, which placed me on
the Honor Roll. Upon graduation I
received the Governors General
Award for achieving the highest
grade point average in all the
diploma programs, in 2009, at
Mount Royal College. In my spare
time I enjoy arts, crafts and I
like to sew. I love to sketch and
create drawings particularly of
wild life. I enjoy reading a good
book, especially mystery novels
and also take pleasure in biking,
hiking and long walks through Fish
Creek Park. I am looking forward
to getting to know all the
children and their families and I
know we will have a great year
full of learning and FUN!
My name is Marie
Benedict (Ms. Marie). I am
very excited to be returning as
playschool teacher and team
teaching with Ms Erin. In
the last seven years I have spent
a lot of time in the playschool
classroom as a parent volunteer
and co-chair with my three kids. I
completed my Child Development
Assistant certificate in the fall
of 2009 and taught at WHCA
preschool before starting at HHBH
last year. I think it is the most
rewarding job in the world. I love
how excited and enthusiastic the
kids are about learning new
things.
I am thrilled to work and play
with your kids in this caring and
nurturing environment. I can’t
wait to see you all in the
classroom.
Parent Helpers
The cooperative nature of HHBH Playschool
requires participation as a parent helper
about once every 4- 6 weeks (nannies,
grandparents, etc. are also welcome as
helpers). This gives the opportunity to
see how your child functions in the
playschool environment, and helps keep
monthly fees relatively low. On the
parent’s helper day, the child is also the
special helper and has a chance to welcome
everyone into the class, present a
show-and-tell, and help out with the daily
routine. All of our parent helpers are
required to have a Police Security
Clearance checks completed prior to
volunteering in the classroom for the
2011-2012 school year.
